Type locality: Imphal stream near Karong [= Kameng] [Irrawaddy drainage], Manipur Valley , India . Syntypes : ZSI (4). Distribution: Irrawaddy and Salween drainages, Myanmar and China. (Hora, 1921a; Kottelat, 1989; Chu et al., 1999). Remarks: This species has been considered a synonym of G. platypogonoides by many authors. We consider this species valid and tentatively consider all records of G. platypogonoides from India and Myanmar to be based on G. dorsalis .
