Distribution Circumglobal, with a bathymetric range of 0 to 1517 m ( Ansín Agís et al. 2001 ; Gil 2017). In the Southeast Atlantic, it was reported from Angola ( Broch 1914 ; Bouillon et al. 1995 ), Namibia ( Broch 1914 ; Gili et al. 1989 ), Vema Seamount ( Millard 1966 ) and South Africa (Millard 1975).
