Comments:
Leptopelis bocagii
is a savanna species known from the western and northeast regions of
Angola
(
Marques
et al.
2018
). Based on
two specimens
, an adult, and a juvenile from “Gumba”,
Ferreira (1904)
described what he considered to be a new variety, “
Hylambates bocagei
var.
leucopunctata
n. var.
” (MHNCUP/ANF 184– 185).
Ceríaco
et al.
(2014b)
, after examination of the
type
material, considered
leucopuntata
as a junior synonym of
L. bocagii
, but additional analysis might be needed to address its taxonomic identity.
Ferreira (1906)
cited additional specimens of “
Hylambates bocagei
(Gunth.)
” [=
Leptopelis bocagii
] from “Rio Luinha”, “Quilombo” and “N’golla Bumba” (MHNCUP/ANF 187). Specimens MHNCUP/ANF 186, ANF 335 and ANF 342 may correspond to the ones cited by
Ferreira (1906)
from “Rio Luinha” and “Quilombo”.
