The holotype of this species was not available for study and specimens were not examined. The information for this species is from Navás (1930). FIGURE 12. Macrostemum negrense (Flint 1978) . A, right fore- and hind wings, dorsal view; B–E, male genitalia: B, left lateral view; C, phallus, left lateral view; D, apex of phallus, ventral view; E, terga IX and X, dorsal view. Synopsis . Adults. Head testaceous, with spot on vertex. Compound eyes black. Scapes yellowish-brown. Maxillary palps reddish-brown. Prothorax reddish-brown. Meso- and metathorax dark near bases of wings. Legs yellow. Forewings mostly hyaline with longitudinal dark patches; discoidal cell present; radial sector normal. Material examined. None. The female holotype was not available for study. The misinterpretation of Brazilian biodiversity protection laws by scientific curators poses obstacles to borrowing biological material from other countries. Remarks. According to Navás (1930) this species is similar to M. santaeritae . The illustration of the forewing provided by Navás suggests that Macrostemum par and Macrostemum santaeritae could be synonymous. Distribution. Brazil (SP).
