Cyphon maculicorne Solier, 1849: 457 (locus typicus: inmediaciones de Coquimbo ) Helodes maculicornis Solier : Gemminger & von Harold 1869: 1618 Cyphon maculicorne : Blackwelder 1944: 266 (checklist; Chile ); Moroni 1985: 174 ( Chile ) Cyphon maculicornis : Pic 1914: 32 (checklist; Chile ) Contacyphon maculicornis ( Solier, 1849 ) : Zwick et al. 2013: 343 Type material. Lectotype (present designation), female, “ Cyphon \ maculicorne \ Sol. Chili ” [handwritten with brown ink, probably by Solier]; “9 \ 45: [handwritten on a green, round label]. The specimen is relatively well pre- served (TL = 4.2 mm ). Remarks. According to the structure of the female genitalia ( Fig. 6 ) C. maculicornis is a junior synonym of Pseudomicrocara patagonica (Curtis) . For descriptions and illustrations of morphological characters, including male genitalia, see Libonatti & Ruta (2013) . It is clear that Solier studied more than a single specimen of this species as ranges of measurements were noted in the original description ( Solier 1849 ), therefore a lectotype is designated in order to preserve the stability of nomenclature by selecting one specimen as the sole, name-bearing type of the taxon.
