Note: There appear to be no extant original elements, although Linnaeus provided a short description, and referred to a Plumier polynomial. Grimes (in Brittonia 44: 266-267. 1992) discussed the typification of the name, concluding that it was based on the Plumier element, but he refrained from typifying it. Linnaeus placed the name in the synonymy of M. pennata L. in Sp. Pl. , ed. 2, 2: 1507 (1763).
