While the latter species is more similar in color to M . picturatus , M . porantin is in this respect very similar to M . injucundus . The group may be recognized by reduction of the occipital carina and by the round apex of the clypeus, together with a normally elongated first metasomal segment whose sternum is flattened. The clypeus is also unusually wide and the sculpture of mesopleuron is rather coarse.
