A revision of the genus Lycomorphon (Coleoptera: Lycidae) Author Nascimento, Elynton Alves Do Author Bocakova, Milada text Zootaxa 2009 2132 40 52 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.188405 7a5c40e3-2ef9-411a-82d6-27faf7ae7147 1175-5326 188405 Lycomorphon ( Spinolycus ) irregularis (Pic, 1931) comb. n. ( Figs. 6 , 19 , 50–52 ) Idiopteron ( Falsocaenia ) irregularis Pic, 1931: 34 . Holotype , male, PERU ( MNHN ). Diagnosis. Elytra with 3 longitudinal costae, dark brown with yellow humeri and posterior transversal band. Pronotum medially 1.3 times wider than pronotal length. Phallus almost straight apically, distal half curved dorsally. Paramerae slightly longer than third of phallus. Phallobase wider than paramerae, almost hexagonal in ventral and dorsal views. Redescription. Eyes protuberant, interocular distance 1.3 times longer than eye diameter. Antennomeres 3–5 of the same length ( Fig. 19 ). Mandibles reduced, maxillary and labial palpi elongate, labrum as long as wide, its anterior margin rounded. Pronotum trapezoidal, 1.3 times wider medially than pronotal length, dark brown with lateral margins yellow, median longitudinal carina simple in anterior half, forming longitudinal groove posteriorly. Anterior thoracic spiracles short, tubular. Elytra elongate, dark brown with yellow humeri and transversal band, occupying almost entire posterior half, only tips dark brown. Each elytron with 3 costae, costa 3 entirely absent, costa 1 shortened, missing apically, reticulate cells square, regular. Abdominal sternum 8 with one deep and two shallow emarginations distally, median emargination length ½ of sternal length, secondary emarginations weak ( Fig. 6 ). Sternum 9 elongate, rounded proximally and distally. Phallus with distal third curved dorsally, teary orifice in distal two thirds. Paramerae slightly longer than third of phallus length, rounded apically in lateral view. Phallobase almost transversal, hexagonal in ventral and dorsal views, J-shaped in lateral view ( Figs. 50–52 ). Body length: 7 mm , humeral width: 1.6 mm . Comments: The species was originally associated in the subgenus Falsocaenia of the genus Idiopteron . Examination of the holotype showed its close relationships to Lycomorphon brasiliense , and therefore, Idiopteron ( Falsocaenia ) irregularis is transferred to the genus Lycomorphon (subgenus Spinolycus ).
