(2007) for comprehensive synonymy and distribution). Orchomene arnaudi Bellan-Santini, 1972 : 205 , fig. 22. Waldeckia robusta Ren & Huang, 1991 : 255 , 310, figs 44, 45. Types . MNHN. Type locality. Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica : Anvers Island, Biscoe Bay ( 64°50.0’S , 110 m ) and Booth Island. Diagnostic description . Head lateral cephalic lobe large, broad, subacute. Antenna 1 peduncular article 1 without anterodistal projection. Labrum, epistome and upper lip separate . Mandible palp article 2 anterodistal margin setose; article 3 with marginal and apical setae. Labium without apical stylets on each lobe. Gnathopod 1 parachelate; basis anterior margin with slender setae; propodus posterior margin smooth. Gnathopod 2 minutely subchelate; carpus long; propodus palm transverse, dactylus fitting palm. Pereopod 6 basis posteroventral margin rounded. Pereopod 7 basis, posterior margin almost straight, smooth, posteroventral margin rounded. Epimeron 3 posterior margin with strong spine above rounded posteroventral corner . Urosomite 1 with small dorsodistal acute spine . Uropod 1 outer ramus slightly longer than inner ramus; uropod 2 outer ramus slightly longer than inner ramus; uropod 3 inner ramus shorter than outer ramus, reaching article 2 of outer ramus. Depth range . 0–1030 m . Remarks. De Broyer et al . (2007) considered W . arnaudi ( Bellan-Santini, 1972 ) and W . robusta Ren & Huang, 1991 to be a juveniles of W . obesa . We accept this decision. Waldeckia obesa differs from all other species (except W . tangaroa sp. nov. ) in having a labrum with separate epistome and upper lip. It also differs from all other species of Waldeckia in having a strong spine above rounded posteroventral corner of epimeron 3. Distribution. Circum-Antarctic.
