Body small, normally shorter than
1 mm
. Cuticle striated or smooth under a light microscope. Inner labial sensilla papilliform; outer labial and cephalic sensilla setiform with the outer labial longer than the cephalic setae. Buccal cavity elongated with cuticularized walls. Amphidial fovea circular or oval, located relatively far from the anterior end of the body. Pharynx expanding slightly towards its base. Cardia relatively long and oval. Testes paired, the anterior testis located to the left of the intestine and the posterior one to the right. Spicules relatively short, curved ventrally. Gubernaculum present or absent. Female with an anterior outstretched ovary, left to intestine, postvulvar sac usually present. Tail conico-cylindrical with two terminal setae.
