Uniformus rostellatus

Type

China
(
Yunnan
)
Description.
Body medium-sized, brightly colored with yellowish and orange stripes and patches (
Figs 1
,
16
). Face depressed in lateral view with frontoclypeal area slightly concave (
Figs 4
,
19
). Crown convex with length along midline shorter than distance between eyes, coronal suture distinct and short (
Figs 3
,
18
). Forewing with 4th apical cell not reaching apex (
Figs 8
,
23
); hindwing transparent with anal vein branched (
Figs 7
,
22
).
Abdominal apodemes reaching 4th or 5th abdominal sternite (
Figs 12
,
26
). Pygofer side broad basally with lateral side narrowed and prolonged, row of rigid microsetae along caudal margin (
Figs 10
,
25
). Subgenital plate broad basally and curved dorsad distally, rows of macrosetae and rigid microsetae laterally (
Figs 9–10
,
24–25
). Paramere slender and straight with apex slightly to strongly curved (
Figs 15
,
30
). Connective lamellate with central ridge absent (
Figs 11
,
26
). Aedeagus structurally complex; dorsal apodeme developed; preatrium large with large posteriorly directed process bearing one or more pairs of posterolateral branches bent dorsad; aedeagal shaft tubular, with dense microsetae terminally; gonopore apical (
Figs 13–14
,
28–29
).
Remarks.
Uniformus
is very similar to
Naratettix
Matsumura
in having the aedeagus with a posterior preatrial process, but
Uniformus
differs in having the processes of the preatrium bent dorsad distally (bent ventrad in
Naratettix
), the paramere thin and long (broad and short in
Naratettix
) and connective with central ridge absent (present in
Naratettix
).
