Uchida (1926) synonymised Ichneumon yumyum Kriechbaumer, 1895 , described based on a specimen from Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture , Honshû, Japan , with I. generosus Smith, 1874 , and I. generosus Smith had been used as a valid name for a long time. However, the species name ‘ Ichneumon generosus ’ is preoccupied by Olivier (1792) . Current taxonomy. Primary homonym, valid name: Ichneumon yumyum Kriechbaumer, 1895 ( Ichneumonidae : Ichneumoninae : Ichneumonini ). Type number. Type 3b.1808. Specimen # NHMUK010634920 Sex. Male. Type locality.
