A Nearctic and Neotropical species whose females and immature stages, including the undescribed larva, have been found on Carnivora : Procyonidae ; females and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora : Canidae and Mephitidae ; females alone have been recovered from Carnivora : Mustelidae , Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae , and Rodentia : Myocastoridae . There are no records of Ixodes rubidus causing human parasitism.
