Diagnosis Ascelosodis can be distinguished from its closely allied genera by the combination of the following characters: sides of thorax and elytra ciliate beneath, clypeus trilobed, clypeal lobe of head obviously prominent, eyes covered by pronotum, posterior angles of pronotum rectangular, obtuse or rounded, outer margins of mesotibiae without groove. Type species Ascelosodis serripes Redtenbacher, 1868 , by monotypy. Distribution Himalayas from Kashmir to Sikkim, Tadzhikistan , Afghanistan and China (Tibet).
