Differential diagnosis.
Laccobius moriyai
belongs to a group of species with curved hind tibiae, shining black elytra with longitudinal rows of punctures of which only the first one is sulciform. The combination of uniformly black dorsal colouration and apically strongly widened apex of the median lobe is not found in any other species of
Glyptolaccobius
.
Distribution.
Laccobius moriyai
is the first representative of the subgenus
Glyptolaccobius
occurring in the Palaearctic Region. So far the species is known only from the environs of the Arasawa Dam in the
Yamagata Prefecture
in
Japan
(Honshu island).
