In nature eggs are laid along leaf margins McFarland (1988) . Colour: Milky, pale green becoming pale pinkish brown, posterior pole whitish, anterior pole with brown blotches (Figs 837 & 838) then transparent grey on maturity. Size (mm) (n=15): L = 0.95 ± 0.01, W = 0.61 ± 0.01, T = 0.57 ± 0.01. Width/length: 0.65 No. of females: 2 Aeropylar opening size (m) (n=6) : L = 0.84 ± 0.05, W = 0.66 ± 0.07. Relative aeropylar opening size: 0.6 Micropyles : Indistinct (Figs 839 & 840) No. of openings: 15 No. of cells in rosette: 20,11,11 No. of rows of cells in micropylar area: 4 Shape: Narrow, elongated, bluntly ovoid, anterior pole truncated, posterior pole subpointed, compressed dorso­ventrally (Figs 837, 838 & 841). Characteristics : Egg faintly marked on all surfaces by convex, hexagonal cells with narrow, recessed walls (Figs 841 & 842). Aeropyles very inconspicuous, unelevated, openings extremely small, distributed around rim of egg only. Micropylar cells slightly recessed (Fig. 840). Chorion rough, with shallow undulations, rather granular (Fig. 843).
