Excavating sponges in papillate or fistulate morphology, former with porous excavation, latter usually with larger cavities. Choanosomal skeleton unordered or forming sinuous bands of spicule fibres. Densely anastomosing fibres in fistules. Spicules curved oxeas, no microscleres. Commonly mucoid (adapted from Desqueyroux-Faúndez & Valentine 2002 ).
