Diagnosis of the
P. atra
species group
Within the Palaearctic, two well defined species groups can be separated: the
P. atra
species group, recognized in both sexes by the only slightly microtrichose and therefore clearly shiny face below the antenna, and by bluishblack and shiny thorax and abdomen, while the
P. innupta
species group is recognized in both sexes by the heavily microtrichose and therefore clearly dull face below the antenna, by bronze-brown color of thorax and abdomen, and by the medially dull terga in males. The
P. atra
group consists of the following species:
