Type specimens of the species and many of the synonyms are deposited in the Natural History Museum, London. Distribution. The species has been reported across a wide geographic range. Records for the species have been published for Argentina , Brazil , Colombia , Costa Rica , French Guiana, Guyana , Paraguay , Suriname , St. Lucia , the Antilles, Trinidad , Uruguay , and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a ; Duffels & van der Laan 1985 ; Sanborn 2011a , b, 2013 , 2014 , 2019 a, 2020e , 2023b ; Sanborn & Heath 2014 ; Nunes et al . 2023 ). It is possible that the records from Uruguay represent one or both of the similar species ( Dorisiana noriegai Sanborn & Heath 2014 , Dorisiana metcalfi Sanborn & Heath 2014 ) found in Argentina and Brazil ( Sanborn & Heath 2014 ; Nunes et al . 2023 ).
