ORANGE-BELLIED PARROT
Neophema chrysogaster
CR
Psittacus chrysogaster
Latham, 1790
MZUT
AV1893; previously mounted; adult female;
Australia
, no date; purchased by F. A. Bonelli in 1820.
Remarks
.—The label attached to the base of the wooden stand is inscribed ‘
Neophema chrysogastra
(Lath.)
? New Holland’ and the manuscript catalogue ‘
Euphema aurantia
, Gould
?’.
Salvadori (1891)
described genus
Neophema
and stated that
N. chrysogastra
and
N. aurantia
were synonyms. The pedestal label was probably written by Salvadori himself, who was evidently unsure of the specimen’s identification.
