This species can be recognized by the dark body color and long, tapered groove on the venter of the hind femur. Specimens of the closely similar D. incisuralis (Loew) have a row of anteroventral setae on the hind tibia, and were treated by us previously ( Brown & Kung, 2007 ). Additionally, the hind femur of D. nebulisilvensis has an emargination of the ventral margin basal to the transverse carina that is lacking in specimens of D. incisuralis . Description. Body length: 2.31–3.13 mm . Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, dark brown. Palpus of normal size, light brown. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of subequal setae; anterior seta only slightly shorter than posterior. Pleuron dark brown. Mean costal length 0.51 wing length, range 0.51–0.52. Halter light brown. Legs light brown, except apical one-half of hind femur darker. Forecoxa in lateral view light brown. Foretibia with 6–7 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa light brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, large, rounded, forming median cuplike concavity. Posterior face of hind femur with small basal group of peglike setae; more distally with small emargination of ventral margin of hind femur; also with transverse carina and long, narrowing sulcus ( Figs 267–268 ). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 blackish-brown, with thin yellow posterior margin, tergites 2–6 as tergite 1. Venter of abdomen gray with yellow lines of tergites continued, with few longer setae on segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus brown. Distribution. Nicaragua to Costa Rica . Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin words for “from the cloud forest”, referring to the habitat of this species. Holotype .
