Dejean described B . punctatus from specimens collected by M. Klug on Mount Sinai (having visited this mountain in the centre of the Sinai peninsula in Egypt , I find it hard to believe that the same species can occur in Hong Kong ). Andrewes (1919a) and Andrewes (1935) , treat this as a well marked form of B. punctatus and is listed under that species as occurring in Hong Kong by Bousquet (2003a) and Häckel et al. (2010) . Roig-Juñent (2000) examined both taxa and lists Broscus davidianus Fairmaire, 1888a separately. Hua (2002) lists Broscus davidianus Fairmaire, 1888a .
