Sturnus vulgaris Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ): 28 females , 8 males , 39 nymphs, 2 larvae ( AMU –SYR.124B) (sec.); POLAND , Zachodniopomorskie , Swinoujscie , May 2001 , coll. G. Kiljan. Material deposited in the AMU and ZISP . Same host species: 12 females , 2 males , 24 nymphs ( AMU – SYR.124A) (sec.) ; SLOVAKIA , Bardejov , 25 March 1962 , coll. T. Weisz. Material deposited in the AMU . Same host species: 1 female ( AVB 05–0715032 ) ; FRANCE , Brittany , Cotes d'Armor (48°25'00''N, 02°40'00''W), 1 December 1993 , coll. J.C. Beaucournu. Material deposited in the ZISP [ This specimen was previously incorectly determined as S. minor by Bochkov & Mironov (1998) ] . Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species occupying quills of secondary feathers of Sturnus vulgaris . Distribution. France , Poland , Slovakia , and Kirghizia . Remarks. This species was originally described from Sturnus vulgaris from Kirghizia ( Chirov & Kravtsova 1995 ). After description, Bochkov & Mironov (1998) reported this species also from Garrulus glandarius , but in the next paper (Bochkov 2001), the author reexamined the mite material from this host and assigned them as Syringophiloidus glandarii . In the paper by Glowska et al. 2007 , incorrectly reported this species from T. merula . The mites inhabiting this host belong to a new species— S. parapresentalis sp. nov. (see below).
