Remarks.
This species was originally described from
Sturnus vulgaris
from
Kirghizia
(
Chirov & Kravtsova 1995
). After description,
Bochkov & Mironov (1998)
reported this species also from
Garrulus glandarius
, but in the next paper (Bochkov 2001), the author reexamined the mite material from this host and assigned them as
Syringophiloidus glandarii
. In the paper by
Glowska
et al.
2007
, incorrectly reported this species from
T. merula
. The mites inhabiting this host belong to a new species—
S. parapresentalis
sp. nov.
(see below).
