Leptidea duponcheli
(Staudinger, 1871)
—Observed in
Montenegro
only by Müting (1973) from Miločer, near Budva where it was reported as common. Interestingly
L. sinapis
was not recorded by Müting from the same locality, casting doubt on the correct identification. The author has never observed
L. duponcheli
in the aforementioned area, only specimens of the
L. sinapis
complex. The species was also reported by
Sobczyk & Gligorović (2016)
. However, Mr. Sobczyk has provided photographs of collected specimens and it was confirmed that the sampled material belonged to the
L. sinapis
complex. It is possible that the specimens observed by Müting (1973) also belonged to the summer generation of
L. sinapis
, as both species are very similar in the 2nd generation, and not always easy to separate. Without the possibility of verifying Müting’s observations
L. duponcheli
is retained in the current list, but needs to be confirmed.
