Phanacis hypochoeridis
is native to the Western Palaearctic but has been accidentally introduced into many regions around the world (
Melika 2006
;
Melika & Prinsloo 2007
), including
New Zealand
. It forms galls in the false dandelion
Hypochaeris radicata
L. (
Asteraceae
) (
Lintott 1969
). It is widespread in
New Zealand
. North Island: AK, ND, WI. South Island: BR, CO, MC, MK, NN, OL.
