Pilargis
sp. n.
Sweden
Material examined
One median fragment (
ECOSUR
) heavily contracted, Singlefjord,
Sweden
, coll. legit
F. Pleijel
,
18 February 1986
, 70–
100 m
.
It is about
6 mm
long,
1.2 mm
wide, 28 setigers. Verrucae about the same size over the dorsum, conical, mammiliform, or 8-shaped. Those present over dorsal cirri larger over dorsal side, not much smaller than those over cirrophore.
Parapodia
directed dorsally because of distortion. Dorsal cirri with acuminate cirrostyles, squat cirrophore, the cirrostyle 1.5 times longer than cirrophore. Setal lobe triangular. Ventral cirri digitate slightly longer than setal lobe. All neurosetae smooth capillaries.
Discussion
This fragment does not fit into
P. papillata
Rasmussen
, which has been described from a fjord environment, and it might be an undescribed species. It differs by having many verrucae with an 8-shaped profile, that are abundant and large over cirrostyles, and by having all setae capillaries. More and better material is required to describe the species.
