Description.
Imago (
Fig. 2
) with wingspan 9.0−10.0 mm. Head with vertex shining silvery white, frons shining leaden, occiput brown. Labial palpus with basal and second segments yellow mixed with white on inner surface, yellow mixed with black on outer surface; third segment black, basal 2/5 and apex white, about same length as second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum white and black on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula ochreous brown, thorax silvery white at apex. Forewing ochreous yellow, costal margin grayish black along 2/3; markings white edged with black scales: first fascia from base of costal margin to basal 1/ 5 of dorsum; second fascia from costal 1/4 to middle of dorsal margin, slightly broader anteriorly; third fascia from costal 2/3 to before tornus, anterior half and posterior half broadly triangular, constricted at middle, posterior 2/3 tinged with gray scales, much denser on posterior half; apex with a nearly rounded white spot, margined with dense black scales; termen with two white dots and scattered with black scales; cilia yellow mixed with black, gray along distal part of costal and dorsal margins. Hindwing and cilia gray. Foreleg black, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; midleg with tibia and tarsus yellow on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface, tibia with a tuft of long white scales at apex, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; hindleg yellow, tarsus black with white spots on dorsal surface.
Male genitalia (
Fig. 36
). Uncus broad at base, narrowed to 3/4, distal 1/4 digitate and sclerotized; folded inward and setose laterally, with a longitudinal, median ridge on dorsal surface. Gnathos tongue shaped, almost same length as uncus, basal 3/5 narrowly sclerotized laterally, distal 2/5 sclerotized and scobinate, rounded at apex. Tegumen elongated, branched from posterior 3/5, narrowly blunt anteriorly. Valva very narrow and elongate, almost parallel dorso-ventrally, slightly broader at base, with a longitudinal row of fine spines at middle; costa slightly sinuate, slightly projected at base and near apex, concave at middle; ventral margin with two or three fine spines distally; apex bluntly rounded and setose, slightly concave dorsally. Sacculus weak. Vinculum roundly projected postero-medially, forming a crescent-shaped band; saccus short, about 1/3 length of valva, broad at base, narrowed to 1/3, distal 2/3 parallel laterally, rounded at apex; Juxta long and very narrow, parallel laterally, extended outward laterally at base, with a slender basal handle reaching 3/4 length of saccus; distal 1/5 bilobed, rounded at apex, exceeding base of uncus. Aedeagus about 1.3 x length of valva, narrow at base, broadened to apex, somewhat flower shaped and sclerotized distally, serrate apically; cornutus spiculate, about 1/5 length of aedeagus.
Female unknown.
Diagnosis.
This new species is similar to
P. jongi
Lvovsky, 2000
. It can be separated by the ventral margin of the valva with two or three fine spines distally, bluntly rounded apex without dorsal tooth and the very narrow juxta in the male genitalia. In
P. jongi
, the ventral margin of the valva does not have spines, the apex has a dorsal tooth and the juxta is broad in the male genitalia.
Distribution.
Brunei
(Bukit Retak).
Etymology.
The specific name is derived from the Latin
angustus
(= narrow), referring to the very narrow valva and juxta in the male genitalia.
