Description
. Male.
Head
. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index 2.6, haired pale and sparsely, longer than wide. Necks rather long. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment without deepened sensory pit, with one bristle only.
Thorax
. Brown. Scutum with three dark stripes, haired pale. Wings pale; R1: R = 0.5; c somewhat longer ½ w; y = x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs brownish; tibial organ comblike; middle and hind tibiae with one long spur, second spur strongly reduced or absent; claws toothless.
Abdomen
. Brown, haired pale. Hypopygium brown, ventral base closed, haired sparsely; gonocoxites longer than gonostylus, inner ventral margin haired sparsely. Gonostylus flattened on inner side, with strong apical tooth and 7–8 subapical spines in the apical half, spines as long as tooth, a few of them located somewhat laterally on the ventral inner side. Tegmen wide, apically with fine teeth. Body size:

Comments
. This small species is similar to
Sc. awinitae
. It differs in body size, a stronger apical tooth and subapical spines, located more laterally on ventral inner side. It is similar to
Sc. pusilla
(Meigen)
from Europe as well, but differs in the shape of the gonostylus and a higher number of subapical spines. The species belongs to the
Sc. atomaria
group.
