Collection and habitat data.
Silvanus muticus
was collected in a mature hardwood forest, a mature (110-year-old) red spruce forest, and a mixed forest. Adults were collected by beating dead white birch (
Betula papyrifera
Marsh.) branches that had dead, dried leaves, sifting flood debris on a river margin, and at an ultraviolet light. Adults were collected during June, July, and August.
