Discussion: Reviewed by Ansell (1972:42) ; ellipsiprymnus division (includes also kondensis, pallidus and thikae ) and defassa division (includes all other nominal subspecies) formerly regarded as species; they hybridize along a zone of contact (G. Peters, 1986 ) and differ in their centric fusion polymorphisms and structure of the Y chromosome ( Kingswood et al, 1998 b ). Cotterill (2003 a ) treated crawshayi as a species.
