Holotype . ♂ , BRAZIL : Santa Catarina : Blumenau , 25.x.1931 , F. Weber [ LACM ENT 222181 ] ( MZSP ; examined). Species recognition. This species is easily recognized by the emarginate ventral margin of the hind femur with a single row of curved-tipped peglike setae above. Description. Body length: 2.06–2.88 mm . Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae straight. Flagellomere 1 oval, orange basally and brown apically. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron with anepisternum and proepisternum brown, rest of pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.54 wing length, range 0.53–0.54. Halter brown. Legs light brown, hind femur darker. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa brown. Hind coxal lobe brown, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with strong ventral emargination and single row of curved, peglike setae immediately dorsal; more dorsobasally with group of four tiny setae ( Figs 37–38 ). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with sparse setae. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow. Distribution.
