Prostomium with anterior margin entire. Two pair of eyes. Four pairs of anterior cirri. Maxillary ring with cones in the area I, cones or pointed bars (P-bars) arranged in comb-like series in the areas II–IV, and cones,
merged cones
and P-bars in the areas IV. Oral ring with cones, shield-shaped bars or
crescent-shaped bars
in the areas VI, P-bars and cones in the areas VII–VIII, area V with or without cones.
Paragnaths in the areas VII–VIII arranged in one or two bands.
Notopodial dorsal ligules foliose, pennant-like in posterior chaetigers. Prechaetal notopodial lobe present or absent. Neuroacicular lobes bilobed and neuropodial postchaetal lobe present, at least in anterior chaetigers. Notochaetae homogomph spinigers, rarely homogomph falcigers. Neurochaetae homogomph spinigers, heterogomph spinigers and falcigers on supra-acicular fascicles; heterogomph falcigers and spinigers (rarely absent) in sub-acicular fascicles.
