TYPES . Allantus variabilis Mocsáry, 1909: 26 . Syntypes Ƥ, “Turkestania: Montes Alai”. Lectotype Ƥ, hereby designated ( Fig. 41 ). Type locality: “Alai mont.” [= Alai, mountain range in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan ]. DISCUSSION. Taeger (1988a) mentioned 2 Ƥ syntypes . These specimens were mentioned by Mocsáry (1909) as var. 1. and 2. In the HNHM collection one more female syntype was found. This female, corresponding in colour characters to that described by Mocsáry as the typical form, is hereby designated as lectotype ( Fig. 41 ). It represents an unusually dark form of variabilis with the scutellum and terga 2–3 and 6 black, and terga 4–5 with the yellow hind margin interrupted. Furthermore, the sterna bear only a few yellow marks. The remaining two syntypes are designated as paralectotypes (var. 2, see Fig. 42 ).
