Forewings 1.7 times longer than wide, length about 3.7 mm . Abdomen and dorsal parts of head and thorax dark reddish-brown; ventral parts of head and thorax, and legs stramineous. Forewings dark brown, apical margin lighter; a few lighter dots in and near clavus; a black mark around last subcostal sector; all veins bright red. Hindwings lightly infuscated; some veins faintly tinted with red. Facial carinae contiguous at their bases; rostrum reaching hind coxae; subantennal processes and lateral carinae of pronotum poorly developed. Forewings with apical part of Sc slightly sinuate; Sc+R fork just distad of basal third of wing; Ms1 branched in its basal third; Ms1b merging for a short section with apical part of Cu1, a small triangle at base of Ms1. Pygofer of male genitalia with very large lateral projections, reaching end of anal segment. Genital styles elongated, slightly pointed at the tip; proximal dorsal process short, distal dorsal process elongated, a slight hump between both processes. Aedeagus large; stem with a prominent, dorsal, flat process near junction with apical part, at its anterior dorsal corner a small pointed tip; apical part flat and long, ending in three prominent and pointed processes, all directed forward. Note. I n one paratype apical margin of forewings with conspicuous white stripes. Etymology . The species name is a Latin noun ( miles = a soldier) used in apposition. Type material. Distribution . North Borneo , Philippines ( Palawan ). Diagnosis. Rhotana miles is characterized by the dark forewings, the red forewing veins, and the three pointed processes on the apical part of the male aedeagus.
