Combination of the following characters: R 5 connected to M 1 at base; anterior aedeagal spines thin and not reaching the apical 1/3 of aedeagus, posterior spines thick, numerous and strongly sclerotized. ( INPA ) . Distribution. Brazil ( São Paulo , Santa Catarina ). Remarks. Bravo (2005) provided a differential diagnosis for M . ( M .) barrettoi and M . ( M .) pilosella based on the drawings of male terminalia of Müller (1895) . We include here, complete illustrations of the male and female head ( Figs. 24–25 ), an illustration of the wing, showing the connection between vein R 5 and M 1 ( Fig. 26 ) and a detailed illustration of female hypogynium, showing the internal lateral bristles ( Figs. 27–28 ). The connection of veins R 5 and M 1 is found in both males and females, but this can vary from a well delimited to a faint connection.
