Male: 6th abdominal tergite narrowly separated from syntergosternite 7+8, with many strong setae posteriorly. Female: 6th tergite separated mid-dorsally into hemitergites, at most 1.5 times as long as 6th sternite, with a rather irregular row of short median setae and a row of marginal setae; 6th sternite quadrate ventral view, weakly membranous on narrow anteromedian 1/2, with rather sparse setae at most on ventral 1/2; 7th tergite narrowly separated mid-dorsally, about 2/3 as long as 6th tergite, with a row of rather short marginal setae; 7th sternite slightly shorter than 6th sternite, weakly and narrowly membranous on mid-ventral 2/3, with several fine setae at most on posterior 1/3; 8th tergite reduced to very small rectangular hemitergites, without hairs; 8th sternite wide and nearly rectangular, with fine long hairs; epiproct small, with 2–3 pairs of long setae. Japan (Honshu); China ( Heilongjiang , Jilin ), Europe (widespread), Russia (widespread). Remarks. This species was redescribed in detail by Zimin (1960) and Mesnil (1972a , as Meriania vagans ). Zimin (1960: 728 , figs 1–2) and Cerretti (2010 : Vol. II, p. 174, fig. 6) illustrated the male terminalia of this species. This species appears to be rare in Japan .
