Euconnus ( Eupentarius ) matsunoyamensis Hoshina & Nagano ; Jałoszyński, 2021a: 156 , implied, by placing Euconophron as junior synonym of Eupentarius . Euconnus ( Euconnus ) matsunoyamensis Hoshina & Nagano ; here placed in Euconnus s. str. Remarks. This species is known to occur in Honshu, and it is yet another member of the E. fustiger group. It was described based on a single male as small as merely 0.9 mm , which means that this is one of the smallest Euconnus species in the world. As such, E. matsunoyamensis seems unique and possibly easily distinguishable from all remaining Japanese species with a similar, E. fustiger -like aedeagus. Hoshina & Nagano (2005) placed this species in the subgenus Euconophron (currently a junior synonym of Eupentarius ). However, E. matsunoyamensis does not show diagnostic characters of this subgenus, and its placement is here corrected to Euconnus (s. str.).
