GRAMMIA DORIS MINEA
(SLOSSON)
(
FIGS 2
–4C)
Diagnosis:
Distinguished from nominal
G. doris
by the slightly smaller size (mean forewing length =
19 mm
), thinner forewing pale bands, and larger hindwing spots.
Biology:
Adult collection dates indicate a single annual generation, with the flight peak between late May and mid June. As discussed under
G. doris
, the habitat preference of
G. d.
minea
is not clear, but may include wetlands.
Distribution:
Southern BC east to NF and NB; because of the paucity of specimens, the southern extent of
ssp.
minea
, and relationship to
ssp.
doris
, is unclear.
