Angelier, 1965 , rejected synonymy. Material examined. Type material lost. Austria : SMF 49849 , " Aturus paucisetus Mot. & Tan. ♀ Schwarzach unterhalb Alterschwende. Bregenzer Wald. Österr. Schwoerbel leg. Juni/ Okt. 1961 2828 "; 49850-49851 , ditto, "2829, 2830", 1 resp. 2 ♂♂. Switzerland : NHMB 4557 , " Aturus pauciporus Walter, 1947 Lüssel , hyp, Coll. Schiess" – in addition to a of A. pauciporus , the slide contains a ♂ of A. paucisetus (first record from Switzerland). Remarks. The type series of this species is lost, but Central European material from NHMB and SMF is a good base for the verification of a set of diagnostic characters. The species cannot be synonymized, as proposed by E. Angelier ( 1965 ) with A. brachypus K.Viets, 1936 , a species differing, in males, in ( 1 ) simple, not bifurcated setae Dgl- 3 and Lgl- 1–2 , ( 2 ) presence of a group of longer posterolateral idiosoma setae, ( 3 ) absence of proximally-directed ventral spine-like projections on IV-L- 5 , and ( 4 ) a very stout IV-L- 6 (L/H <2.0, shorter than IV-L- 5 ). Females found together with A. brachypus have the Dgl- 4 closer to Dgl- 5 (distance ratio Dgl- 3–4 / 4–5 , 2.7 ) than females collected with A. paucisetus (ratio 2.0).
