New synonymy
.
Li & Liu (2007)
described
Psallus henanensis
from
Henan
, Northeastern
China
.
Although I
was not able to examine the
type
series of this species, the detailed original description and illustrations allow for the conclusion that this species is conspecific with
Psallus amoenus
Josifov.
The
latter species was described from the vicinity of
Pyongyang
,
North Korea
and can be recognized from congeners by the J–shaped vesica with distinct subapical process and finely serrated lobe at the base of apical blade, and characteristically twin–coned right paramere (
Figs. 3–4
and
52–55 in
Josifov 1983
).
Psallus henanensis
Li & Liu
is morphologically inseparable from
P. amoenus
Josifov
and, thus, a junior synonym.
The second species described in the same paper,
Psallus fortis
Li & Liu
may represent a synonym of
Psallus castaneae
Josifov, 1983
but I have not examined males of both species and refrain from synonymizing them here.
