Identification.
Perennial tussock grass, short rhizomes, 1.00–
1.65 m
height. Leaf-blades linear, 6.5–40.0 cm long,
0.4–0.7 cm
wide, acuminate, glabrous to densely hairy on both sides, ligulate. It is characterized by its inflorescence with 3–10 alternate branches, with solitary and cordiform spikelets.
Remarks.
Occurs on the native grassland, mainly over humid soils.

Midwest (except DF state), North (AM state), South (
PR state
), Southeast (except ES and RJ states) regions.
