Benthic Foraminifera from the Capricorn Group, Great Barrier Reef, Australia Author Mamo, Briony L. text Zootaxa 2016 4215 1 1 123 journal article 37169 10.11646/zootaxa.4215.1.1 0087fa4c-a4f0-45d9-a2de-d433d7885753 1175-5326 272923 B91D1782-C11A-4CDC-96B6-76104FEE51BD Miliolinella sp. 3 ( Fig. 12 :1–4) Emended description (after Parker 2009 ): Test long, quinqueloculine, but likely cryptoquinqueloculine, approximately twice as wide as high. Periphery rounded, globular-like giving test an oval cross-section. Inflated chambers are slightly compressed with distinct sutures so deeply depressed they enhance the globular shape of the test. Wall is smooth, but pitted with sporadic foreign particles that have attached during growth producing pits that have puckered and warped the exterior test wall. Aperture is terminal and arch-shaped with slight lip and a simple, thick nub-like tooth. FIGURE 12. (Unless otherwise specified all scale bars = 100 µm). 1–4. Remarks. This species closely resembles Quinqueloculina sp. 24 of Parker (2009) from Ningaloo Reef and other sub-globular Miliolinella species. Both Quinqueloculina sp. 24 ( Parker 2009 ) and Miliolinella sp. 3 differ, however, in possessing a tooth rather than a Miliolinella -type flap over the aperture ( Fig. 12 :2, 4). The CG species can be discriminated from those reported by Parker (2009) in having more warped test walls ( Fig. 12 :1–4). Distribution within study area. This species was only collected from site 51 in One Tree Lagoon 2.
