Genus
Turbicellepora
Ryland, 1963
Type species.
Turbicellepora coronopus
(Wood)
.
Remarks.
The first species of
Turbicellepora
to be recorded in the coastal waters of the
Faroe Islands
was
Turbicellepora avicularis
(
Hincks, 1860
)
(
Nordgaard 1907
;
Kramp 1934
). This was followed by
Turbicellepora nodulosa
(
LorenZ, 1886
), from the shallow sublittoral of the Faroe shelf (BIOFAR program,
1986‒1989
, BIOFAR database, unpublished data) (Denisenko
et al
. 2016). A third species,
Turbicellepora boreale
Hayward & Hansen, 1999
, from the shallow sublittoral‒upper bathyal, was described following re-examination of some BIOFAR samples and the collection of the Natural History Museum, London (
Hayward & Hansen 1999
). The new species described here was also found in the BIOFAR samples.
