Type species, Musca cupraria Linnaeus, 1758 , by designation of Latreille (1810: 442) . [For nomenclatural history, see Woodley (2001: 220) ; no changes are proposed here.] Sargus congoense (Lindner) . Comb. nov. Chrysochroma congoense Lindner, 1965 : 53 . ST m [MRAC], 1 ♂ [SMNS]: Zaire : Parc National de la Garamba, “I/b/3, II/id/ 8, II/fd/5, II/cc/9, Iso III, II/jd/9, and Mabanga”. We examined one female and two male syntypes of C. congoense [MRAC, not IRSNB as stated in Woodley (2001: 230) ] and this species fits well into the broad concept of Sargus . The genus Sargus is represented nearly worldwide and needs a thorough revision, because it is clearly not monophyletic. However, for the time being we utilize a broad concept of this genus as currently recognized because revision of generic concepts for the group is beyond the scope of this paper. The species was listed under the “unplaced species of Sarginae ” in Woodley (2001: 230) . Sargus flavipes (Lindner) . Comb. nov. Chrysochroma flavipes Lindner, 1966a : 371 . ST 2 ♂ [MRAC]: Zaire : Kafakumba; ST 1 ♀ [MRAC]: Zaire : Tshuapa, Ikengo; ST 1 ♀ [MRAC]: Zaire : Equateur , Bamania; ST 1 ♀ [MRAC]: Zaire : Bambesa; ST 1 ♀ [SMNS]: Zaire : Lulua, Kapanga. We examined two female and one male syntypes of C. flavipes [MRAC] and this species fits well with the broad concept of Sargus . The species was listed under the “unplaced species of Sarginae ” in Woodley (2001: 231) . Sargus luctuosus (Lindner) . Comb. nov. Paraptecticus luctuosus Lindner, 1938 : 5 . HT [ MRAC ]: Zaire : Kisangani. We examined the female holotype of Paraptecticus luctuosus [MRAC] and this species fits into the broad concept of Sargus . The presence of a distinct lobe on the lower calypter and the absence of a terminal extension on the scutellum clearly distinguish S. luctuosus from Parapecticus viduatus Grünberg , the type species of Parapecticus . Sargus opulentum (Grünberg) . Comb. nov. Chrysochroma opulentum Grünberg, 1915 : 65 . HT [ZMHU]: Equatorial Guinea : Río Muni , Nkolentangan. We examined the female holotype of C. opulentum [ZMHU] ( Fig. 33 ) and this species fits well with the broad concept of Sargus . The species was listed under the “unplaced species of Sarginae ” in Woodley (2001: 232) . Sargus pallidiventre (Brunetti) . Comb. nov. Chrysochroma pallidiventris Brunetti, 1926 : 134 . HT [ MRAC ]: Zaire : Kilo. We examined the female holotype of C. pallidiventris [MRAC] and this species fits well into the broad concept of Sargus . The species was listed under the “unplaced species of Sarginae ” in Woodley (2001: 232) . FIGURES 31–36. Stratiomyidae habitus. 31. Chrysochroma punctum Lindner , male holotype [MMHM]. 32. Chrysochroma ptecticoideum Lindner, 1966a : 372 . HT [ MRAC ]: Zaire : Lulua , Kapanga. We examined the female holotype of Chrysochroma pecticoideum [MRAC] and this species fits well with the broad concept of Sargus . The species was listed under the “unplaced species of Sarginae ” in Woodley (2001: 232) . FIGURES 37–38. Stratiomyidae wing. 37. Psapharomys sp. ( R2+3 —second branch of radius). 38.
