Diagnosis.—
Glyphidocera contionis
is most similar to
G. umbrae
but differs from the latter by having a larger pair of costal furcae of the valva, costal furcae that are oriented dorsally, and a narrower valval cucullus.
Description.— Head: Vertex and upper frons grayish brown, lower frons pale gray; labial palpus with segments I–II grayish brown intermixed with few paleyellow scales to near apical margin, segment III grayish brown; inner surface with segments I–II pale yellow, segment III grayish brown intermixed with few paleyellow scales; scape of antenna pale yellow intermixed with few grayishbrown scales; scape of antenna pale yellow intermixed with few grayishbrown scales, flagellum with alternating bands of paleyellow and grayishbrown scales;

th flagellomere dorsally protuberant and curved, forming a deep concavity opposite slightly excavated flagellomeres

; proboscis pale yellow.

Etymology: The species epithet

is derived from the Latin “contio,” meaning an assembly.
