Distribution.
West Palearctic species. In
Morocco
, it is probable that
G. maculatus
has been frequently confused with
G. gibbifer
Schummel, 1832
(
Berchi
et al.
2018a
); thus, a review of the records citing the latter species should be performed to confirm its presence in
Morocco
and to improve the knowledge of the distribution of
G. maculatus
in this country. In the study area,
G. maculatus
was previously cited at Taforalt spring (
Chavanon
et al.
2004
) as
G. gibbifer
. During the sampling period of this study,
G. maculatus
was found at Lower Moulouya (
Fig. 3
).
