Biology.
Pediobius bruchicida
has been recorded as both a primary and a secondary parasitoid from a broad range of hosts, including insects from
Coleoptera
,
Diptera
,
Hymenoptera
and
Lepidoptera (
Noyes 2016
)
.
Distribution in
China
.
Yunnan
.
Remarks.
Newly recorded from
China
. There is a variation on the relative width of smooth median band of scutellum for
P. bruchicida
, which of specimens in IZCAS is slightly narrower than that of specimens loaned from ANIC. Within the
pyrgo
-group,
P. bruchicida
is a distinctive species having the angle between vertex and occiput distinctly obtuse and the occipital carina reduced to a short carina behind each posterior ocellus (
Figs 17
b–c), and also pronotal collar lacking anterior carina.
Pediobius bruchicida
is closely allied to
P
.
pyrgo
, as discussed by
Bouček (1965a)
, who recognized both species as twin species. With the combination of above characters and propodeum with a fine median carina,
P
.
bruchicida
can be separated from
P
.
pyrgo
and also other species within this species group.
