Note. This name is a junior primary homonym of Harpalus brunneus Gyllenhal, 1810 [= Amara brunnea (Gyllenhal, 1810)]. Since both names apply to taxa not considered congeneric since 1899, the case is to be referred to the Commission and meanwhile prevailing usage of both names must be maintained (ICZN 1999: Article 23.9.5).
