Remarks

Petrolisthes virgatus
is a rare species, with a main distribution apparently confined to the Red Sea and the subsequent African coast, south to Delagoa Bay,
Mozambique
. In the western Pacific there are only two records, both from
Japan
(
Nakasone & Miyake 1972
).
