The genus has included so far only two species, both from Neotropical toucans ( Piciformes : Ramphastidae ): Tocolichus allepimerus Gaud & Atyeo, 1975 from Selenidera maculirostris (Lichtenstein, 1823) , and T. ramphastinus ( Mégnin & Trouessart, 1884 ) , recorded from several hosts: Pteroglossus aracari (Linnaeus, 1758) , Ramphastos dicolorus Linnaeus, 1766 , and Aulacorhynchus caeruleogularis (Gould, 1853) . A third species, also from toucans is described below.
